About

After GC36, Provinces began expressing an increasing interest in Discernment in Common and Apostolic Planning. There was a desire to gain new insights and to learn from case studies. As a response, so far we have organized webinars for planning leaders and teams.

The next step will be to organize a meeting here in Rome to continue the discussion. Under the title of Apostolic Planning for Renewal and Transformation, from 5th to 8th December 2023, we will bring together in presence, for the first time, apostolic planning practitioners from the universal Society of Jesus. The aims of the meeting are:

  • To promote a sense of communion and inspiration in this group
  • To create a network of support and knowledge in this area across Provinces and Regions
  • To help each other at a practical level
  • To reflect on how Provinces integrate the UAP into their plans
  • To reflect on the planning challenges raised by issues like Vocation Promotion, Formation and
  • Collaboration with Lay partners.

There will be a study of best practices, inputs and case studies as well as small group sharing, according to the different stages in the process each of your Provinces, Regions or Conferences is right now. For those who have finished a plan, it will offer a chance to look at the challenges posed by implementation. For those in the middle of a plan, it will offer a chance to reflect on the process so far. In addition, for those who have not yet started a plan, it will offer a chance to learn from the wisdom of the group.

The major part of the event will take place in the Aula of the General Curia of the Society of Jesus in Rome.
